Obituary for Shelba Jean Ooley
Shelba Jean Ooley, age 86 of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on January 29, 2023 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born on May 7, 1936 in Mineral City, Indiana, Shelba was the daughter of Estel and Beatrice (Love) Haywood.
Shelba was an avid sewer, and also enjoyed shopping, going on vacation, and reading her Bible. She was an LPN at IU Health Bloomington Hospital for several years, and had a deep passion for the nursing field.
Shelba is survived by her husband, Harold J Ooley; sons, Darrell Ooley (Brenda) and Dana Ooley (Barb); daughter, Danell Ooley-Bequeret (Mike); grandchildren, Tiffany Ooley-Sanford (Jeff), Daniel Ooley, and Courtney Stewart (Jordan); great-grandchildren, Jedrek Sandord, Taylor Sanford, Jordyn RaeLynne Stewart, and William J Stone Stewart; brother, Delmar, “Sonny” Haywood (Sherron); sisters, Gloria Rector (Mike), Rhea Dawn May (Ricky), and Sue Fox (Jim); several nieces and nephews.
Shelba is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Darrell Haywood.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, and again on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until service time.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, February 3, 2023 with burial to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Mineral City, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shelba’s memory may be made to the Ivy Tech Nursing Scholarship.
