Margaret J. (Peggy) Somes passed away on February 2, 2023 at the age of 99. She was born July 8, 1923 in Bloomington, IN to Frances (Kirby) Sparks and Warren Sparks. Peggy graduated from Bloomington High School in 1941. She was a member of Eastern Star, Lambda Chi Omega Sorority and Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington, IN. Peggy was an avid reader, loved to travel, and always loved to dance. Peggy (Grammee) loved being around her family.
Peggy was preceded in death by both parents, her husband William (Bill) Somes, son Grant William Somes of Memphis, TN, half-sisters Judy Gough of Florida and Patsy Gilliland of Bloomington, IN , grandson in law Adam Caldwell of Fort Wayne, IN.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Sheron Ralph of Fort Wayne, IN, daughter in law Brenda (Weddle) Somes of Memphis, TN, son and daughter in law Roger and Diana (Grubb) Somes of Bloomington, IN; six grandchildren, Tony (Tina) Somes of Bloomington,IN Natalie (Adam, deceased) Caldwell of Fort Wayne, IN , Josh (Deidra) Somes of Memphis, TN, Eric (Jennifer) Somes of Bloomington, IN, Meghan (Herwig) DeBeukelaer of Madison, MS, and Evan Somes (fiancé Megan) of Indianapolis, IN. Peggy also had ten great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Peggy’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hearthstone Health Campus for their loving care and patience. Peggy loved and enjoyed all of the staff.
Visitation will be on Thursday February 9, 2023 from 10 am until noon at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard. Services will follow at noon with Tom Ellsworth officiating. Private family Entombment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
