Obituary for Sharon (Hart) Rout

Sharon Hart Rout passed away February 5, 2023 in Bloomington, Indiana where she has lived for the past several years. Sharon was born December 10, 1936 in Evansville, Indiana. She was the daughter of Marvin and Pearl Hart. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Carroll Rout on November 25, 1955 and later welcomed three children, Cynthia, Rebecca, and Brian. Sharon attended Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana and the University of Missouri in Rolla, Missouri.
Sharon and Bob moved several times while raising their family, including Columbus, Indiana, Greenwood, Indiana, Rolla Missouri, Escanaba, Michigan, and Stratford, Ontario, Canada. They finally settled in Bloomington after retirement. Sharon always considered each move an adventure and new experience. Through the moves, she developed many friendships. She kept busy as an active community and hospital volunteer. She was an avid bridge player, golfer, and traveler. Together, Sharon and Robert traveled North America and abroad for years, visiting England, France, and Germany just to name a few.
Sharon was a member of the Indiana University Women’s Club and was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter CR where she served as President from 1994 – 1996. Sharon had a deep spiritual faith as a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. She will always be remembered as a kind, gentle loving woman with the most positive attitude anyone could ever imagine.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Robert Rout, daughter, Cynthia Powers of Bloomington, and son, Brian (Margo) Rout of Columbus, Indiana, a brother, Harold Hart, and sister, Sheila Porter of Phoenix, Arizona, grandchildren, Jenny (Rick) Stark of Hope, Indiana, Stephanie (Andy) of Columbus, Indiana, Andrew (Stephanie) Powers of Marietta, Georgia, Ashley (Ben) Blair of Indianapolis, Indiana, great-grandchildren, Cooper Stark, Maxwell Stark, Nash Burton, Knox Burton, Henry Blair, Sophie Blair, and Charlotte Powers.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Rebecca Rout, and her brother, Glen Hart.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 221 E. 6th Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47408.
Following the service, receiving of friends and family will occur at First Presbyterian Church.
