Obituary for Deanna Kay Waterford

Deanna Kay Waterford, age 76, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Community South Hospital in Greenwood, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 10, 1946 in Petersburg, Indiana, Deanna was the daughter of Grover and Ethel Long.
Deanna moved to Bloomington in 1964, where she met and married her husband, Jack Waterford on September 25, 1965. Deanna and Jack had been married just two weeks shy of 40 years before Jack passed away in 2005.
Deanna was an avid animal lover, and she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her daughters and precious grandchildren. Deanna never met a stranger, and was loved by all.
Prior to her illness, she loved working in her flowerbed, vegetable garden, and mowing her lawn. She worked alongside her husband for many years on their farms. She found great joy in sitting on her back porch watching the beauty of nature and her American flag blowing in the wind.
She was a member of Judah Church of Christ, but was unable to attend the last few years. She served on the Farm Bureau and Clear Creek advisory board. Deanna also worked at Sarkes Tarzian, RCA, Westinghouse, ABB and retired in 2003 from G.E.
Deanna is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Johnson and son-in-law, Bill of Bloomington and Rogenia Cobb and son-in-law, Jamie of Springville; grandchildren, Dylan Cobb, Justin Johnson, Morgan Cobb, and Trent Johnson; sister, Judy Adam of Ft. Myers, FL,; sister-in-law, Janet Waterford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents; sister-in-laws, Claudia Greene, Ruth Floyd, Florence Jacobs, Betty Sawyer, Shirley Stevens and Doris Wilson; and brother-in-laws, Joe, Jerry and Don Waterford.
A special thanks to Thelma McPike of Bedford for being a very devoted friend to our mother for many years. Your visits, calls and meals made her feel so loved.
Visitation for Deanna will be on Thursday February 23, 2023 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard and on Friday from 12 pm until service time.
Services will be 1 pm Friday February 24, 2023 at The Funeral Chapel with Dennis Waterford officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cloverhill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
