Obituary for Mary Ann Koontz
Mary Ann Koontz, age 92, formerly of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on February 25, 2023 at her residence in Dothan, Alabama, with her daughter by her side.
Mary Ann was born on May 28, 1930 in Bloomington, Indiana, daughter of the late Walter and Jesse (Walker) Pardue. She loved spending time on the lake, and was an excellent water skier. As a lover of nature, Mary Ann was an experienced camper and mushroom forager. She had a particular talent for painting; her work is still on display at Spring Mill State Park. Mary Ann’s niece, Liz Bartlett, called her faithfully and made sure Mary Ann had everything that she needed.
Mary Ann is survived by daughter Charlene Stillions (Scott); grandchildren Michael Koontz (Amber) and Keith Koontz (Beth); and great-grandchildren Lindsay, Tyler, Brooke, Lillian and Caleb. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews, especially by niece Liz Bartlett of Ft. Myers, FL. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Koontz, daughter Teresa Martin, brother Walter Pardue Jr., half-brother Richard Pardue and sister Jennie D. Allen.
A visitation will be held for Mary Ann on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday at The Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Duncan Cemetery in Brown County. Pastor Harold Godsey is officiating.
