Obituary for James Dean "Jim" Allen
James Dean “Jim” Allen, 66, Bloomington, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at IU Hospice House.
He was born on Thursday, February 21, 1957 to the late Gordon and Annabelle (Ferguson) Stout in Martinsville, Indiana.
Jim was a 1975 graduate of Martinsville High School. He married Dawn E. (McGovern) Allen on March 7, 1992. He retired from Bloomington Township Fire Department on July 1, 2017 with the rank of Lieutenant Firefighter. Jim was also a fire investigator, EMT and a Haz-mat Tech. He was also a coach for the Cutters, semi pro football team. He was a member of River Valley Christian Church, Amvets Sows, and the Sons of The American Legion.
Surviving is his wife, Dawn; son, Jeremiah Allen of Bloomington; brothers, Gene Allen of Morgantown, Michael Allen of Scottsburg and David Allen of Noblesville; grandchildren, Dayton Allen, Bryce Allen, Archer Allen, Wyler Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Annabelle; stepfather, Lester Stout.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at The Funeral Chapel, 3000 East Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana, with Rev. Kevin Able officiating.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Costin Funeral Chapel, 539 East Washington Street, Martinsville, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at The Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to River Valley Christian Church, 4295 Egbert Road, Martinsville, IN 46151 or IU Hospice House, 2810 South Deborah Drive, Bloomington, IN 47403.
