Obituary for Shirley M. Roth
Shirley M. Roth, 90, of Bloomington passed away on Friday March 10, 2023 at the IU Health Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born July 30, 1932 in Terre Haute, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Wayne and Pauline (Moseman) Burdette. Shirley was a graduate of Blackhawk High School, shortly after becoming a devoted homemaker. Years later working for and retiring from IU Building Services.
Shirley grew up as a member of Rural Youth where she made lifelong friends. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Terre Haute, enjoyed square dancing, gardening, reading, playing cards, but especially loved family time and big family dinners.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Anette Bornhorst (Joseph); son, Andrew Roth (Karli Sample); two grandchildren, Ryan Bornhorst (Maggie David), and Kristen Bornhorst (Garrick Grindley); 4 great grandchildren, Gabriel Grindley, Isabella Grindley, Victoria Grindley, and Sophia Grindley; sister, Karen Fogleman; sister-in-law, Donna Burdette; and sister-in-law, Thelma Roth.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; former husband Richard Roth; sister, Norma Phillips; and brother Gerald Burdette.
A Celebration of Shirley’s life will be at 4:30 pm Saturday April 8, 2023 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
