Mark Allen Bowman passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the age of 59. He was born in Columbus, IN on June 14, 1963 to Ronald and Janet (Sexton) Bowman. He will forever be remembered for his impeccable sense of humor and his easy going lifestyle. Mark attended Columbus East High School where he was a part of show choir, football (all state team) and wrestling, graduating in 1981. He attended Indiana University and enjoyed both the academics and extracurriculars of the college experience, graduating in 1987 with a degree from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Mark dedicated the entirety of his professional life to IU Sports even wrestling for IU during his college career, he spent 40+ years with the Indiana University Athletics Department. Mark loved the outdoors, in his free time you could find him out fishing, camping, boating, mushroom hunting and beyond. He loved his family and friends fiercely, but held his title of dad and papaw in the highest regard.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Ronald Bowman alongside both sets of grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Amy; daughter and step son, Abby (Jacob) Murphy and Allen Coble; and grandchildren, Winston Mark and Olivia Jo. He also leaves his mother Janet Bowman, as well as his brothers and their families: Melvin (Janene) Bowman, Donald (Jody) Bowman, Danny (Cheryl) Engelking. He is also survived by countless friends and family.
Per his request there will be no funeral, visitation or burial, but instead a Celebration of Life held on Friday, June 16th, at Lower Cascades Park from 3-8pm EST.
