Obituary for Betty Joan Neal

Betty J. Neal passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023 at her daughter Judy’s home in Bloomington, Indiana. Betty was born on March 9, 1929 to Thomas & Mary (Grubb) Edwards in Bloomington Indiana. She was married 55 years to Harvey Neal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Neal, son Jerry Neal, a brother she raised as her own, Larry Hoard, four sisters and two other brothers.

Betty graduated from University High School in 1946. She worked for MCCSC food services for 38 years at University and Marlin Schools. Betty was a proud member of the Red Hatters, Walk-A-Lot Home Demonstrators, North Central Church of Christ, and Phi Beta Psi Sorority. For many years she exhibited her beautiful flowers at the Monroe County Fair displaying her talent of growing flowers. She will always be known as the flower & vegetable stand lady on East Highway 45. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed dearly.

Betty is survived by three daughters, Brenda “Joey” (Michael) Buck, Judy (Rick) Patton, Janet (Dallas) Conder, one son Johnny (Louann) Neal, one daughter in-law Becky Neal, 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26th from 2 to 6pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, IN and again before the funeral service from 10am to 11am. A funeral service will be held at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, on Monday, November 27th at 11am.
