Obituary for
Robert J. Terrell
Robert J. Terrell, 87, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday August 4, 2016 at Hearthstone Health Campus surrounded by his family. Robert was born October 17, 1928 in Bloomington and was the son of the late Floyd and Oneta (Miller) Terrell.
He was a 1946 graduate of Bloomington High School. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War where he served with the 1st Cavalry Division 82nd Field Artillery Battalion, HQ. He retired after 38 years with Indiana Bell where he was a telephone line installer and repairman, and a lifetime member of the Indiana Bell Pioneers. He was a member of Highland Village Church of Christ, American Legion, and he loved hunting, fishing and fur trapping. Robert was able in April of 2015 to take part in the Honor Flight program.
Survivors include his 2 children, Linda McElroy (Tim) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Tim Terrell of Bloomington, 2 grandchildren, Lindsey Anderson (Shane) and Sarah McElroy, 2 great grandchildren, Ivan and Sadie, sister, Leah Massey of Bloomington and brother Ronald Terrell also of Bloomington.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara Lea (Drackett) Terrell in 1999 and brother Paul E. Terrell.
Services for Robert will be 10:30 am Monday August 8, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Justin Johnston will officiate the service and burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday August 7, 2016 from 2-6 pm at The Funeral Chapel.
