Obituary for Nona Lee Smith

Nona Lee Smith, 74, of Bloomington passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at her residence. Born April 16, 2012 in Bessemer, Alabama, she was the daughter of Robert G. Butler Sr. and Eva Mae (Wilson) Butler. Nona attended school in Chicago, IL. Nona was a playground attendant at Summit and Grandview Elementary Schools in Bloomington. She also worked as a group leader for Motorola in Chicago, IL. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Bloomington for 15 years. Nona was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who loved her turtle keepsakes. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Smith of Chicago, IL, Simone Mantilla (Oscar) of Bloomington, two grandchildren, Keith Smith of West Virginia, Kimberly Smith of Chicago, IL, one brother, Robert G. Butler (Elaine) of Chicago, IL and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Stacey A. Smith (1998). A memorial service will be 11:00am Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Second Baptist Church 321 N. Rogers St. Bloomington, IN 47404. Pastor Bruce Rose will officiate. The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00am Thursday morning at the church. The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN 47401 is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church.
