Obituary for Dwayne Lee Woods

Dwayne Woods, surrounded by his loving devoted wife, Helen, his Boston Terrier, Lucy, and loving family, went to be with the Lord our Savior, on October 7, 2016 at 1:45pm. He was instantly healed and raptured into his glorious Heavenly home.

Dwayne is survived by his wife, Helen, his parents William and Thresa Woods of Bloomington, IN, his sister Delena Murphy of Baltimore, Maryland, brother Wendell Woods of Bloomington, IN., his stepsons Travis Goodman of Bloomington, IN, Jeremiah Goodman (Akiko) of Japan, his grandchildren, Mercedes Goodman, Kyoko Goodman , Keenan Goodman, and Julius Goodman, sister in law Vicky Bruhn (Don) of Ohio, and his sister in law Lori Meadows (Archie) of Bloomington, IN, niece Melissa Papesh (Romney), as well as other nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death and in the journey to Heaven by his grandparents Felix Woods, Velma Bentler, John and Dorothy Baxter, and also his beloved mother in law, Lois Bennett.

Dwayne was a kind, amazing human being, generous and kind to so many. He is also survived by many good friends each of whom his family is grateful for, and too numerous to list but they know who they are! Dwayne worked for Harrell Fish, Inc. in Bloomington, IN and he loved his work, his boss, and his co-workers – Helen thanks each of them for their gifts of love! The truth is Dwayne knew no strangers and all who knew him loved this gentle giant heart of a man. He will be forever missed until those here in their earthly home meet him again.

Visitation for Dwayne will be held from 4-8pm Wednesday, October 12th, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell & Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., in Bloomington. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, October 13th 2016 at The Funeral Chapel with Reverend Rick Borden officiating.

Memorial contributions in Dwayne’s memory may be made to the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana.
